Faith That Keeps Going by Pastor Gaudin Mutagoma

      Keep Your Eyes Forward

Proverbs 4:25–27 says:

“Let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead. Make a level path for your feet, and all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your feet away from evil.”

Introduction

Life gives us many things that can distract us—our past, our problems, other people, fear, temptation, and even success. Sometimes we lose our direction because we spend too much time looking at what is behind us or what is happening around us.

But God tells us: Keep your eyes forward.

This passage teaches us three important things: look forward, walk carefully, and stay away from evil.

1. Keep Your Eyes Forward

“Let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead.”

What we focus on affects where we go.

If we constantly look at our failures, we may lose hope. If we constantly compare ourselves with others, we may become discouraged. But when we fix our eyes on God and His purpose, we can continue moving forward.

Your past may explain where you came from, but it does not have to determine where you are going.

God is calling you to look ahead with faith.

2. Make Your Path Straight

“Make a level path for your feet, and all your ways will be sure.”

A straight path means making wise and godly choices.

Being a Christian is not only about what we say; it is also about how we live. Our decisions, relationships, work, words, and actions should reflect our faith.

Sometimes the right path is not the easiest path. But the right path is always worth following.

Choose honesty when lying would be easier.
Choose forgiveness when anger feels natural.
Choose purity when temptation is strong.
Choose obedience when nobody is watching.

3. Do Not Turn Away

“Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your feet away from evil.”

There will always be things trying to pull us away from God.

Temptation may come through people, opportunities, money, relationships, or our own desires. We must learn to recognize what is taking us away from God and turn away from it.

You cannot walk straight while constantly changing direction.

Stay focused. Stay faithful. Stay close to God.

Conclusion

Proverbs 4:25–27 gives us a simple but powerful message:

Look forward. Walk straight. Stay away from evil.

Do not allow your past to control your future. Do not allow distractions to steal your focus. And do not allow temptation to take you away from the path God has placed before you.

Whatever you are facing today, keep your eyes on God and continue moving forward.

Your direction matters. Your choices matter. Your walk with God matters.
