Sermon Title: “We Have Received to Give”

 1 Peter 4:10

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."

Introduction

Everything we have comes from God. Our life, our talents, our resources, our time, and our abilities are gifts from His hand. God blesses us not only so we can enjoy His blessings, but so we can become a blessing to others.

A believer is not a storage place for God's blessings; a believer is a channel through which God's blessings flow.

Genesis 12:2
"I will bless you... and you will be a blessing."

1. We Have Received Grace to Give Grace

God has shown us mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."

Because we have received God's grace, we should extend grace to others:

  • Forgive those who hurt us
  • Encourage the discouraged
  • Help those in need
  • Show God's love

2. We Have Received Gifts to Serve Others

God gives every believer something valuable to share.

Romans 12:6
"We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us..."

Your gift is not only for yourself. It is meant to strengthen others.

You may have:

  • A gift of teaching
  • A gift of encouragement
  • A gift of leadership
  • A gift of giving
  • A gift of serving

Use what God gave you for His glory.

3. We Have Received Blessings to Be a Blessing

God provides for us so we can help others.

2 Corinthians 9:11
"You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion..."

God increases our resources so that generosity can increase through us.

The question is not only:
“God, what can You give me?”
but also:
“Lord, how can I use what You gave me to bless others?”

4. We Have Received Love to Give Love

1 John 4:19
"We love because He first loved us."

A believer who has experienced God's love cannot keep it hidden. God's love should flow through our words and actions.

5. We Have Received the Gospel to Share the Gospel

Jesus gave us salvation so we can tell others about Him.

Matthew 28:19
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations..."

The greatest gift we can give someone is the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Conclusion: Be a Channel, not a Container

A container only holds blessings, but a channel allows blessings to flow.

God has given you:

  • Time — give it to serve.
  • Talents — give them to build His Kingdom.
  • Resources — give them to help others.
  • Love — give it to those around you.

Acts 20:35 "It is more blessed to give than to receive." God does not bless us so that we can stop at ourselves. We receive from His hand so we can extend His hand to others."

Prayer:
“Lord, thank You for everything You have given me. Make me a faithful steward. Teach me to give generously, serve faithfully, and become a blessing to others for Your glory. Amen.”
